Side 1 viser kidnappingens innledende fase......

THE WITCH QUEEN CRONICHLES / SCULPTURES

1995 - 98 I made a series of sculpture groups in paper pulp, based on the comic strip figures in the " Double"- album. Sometimes the sculptures follow the basic story, sometimes they strike out on new adventures. The sculptures have all been exhibited in various galleries and museums , but never as a whole. I would like to continue the work with two new sculpture groups, based on the forthcoming new albums " Alcydia" and " Kidnapped Princesses ", both written and directed by Geir Strøm.

Daniel Østvold, Oslo, november 2005.

Trapped

"Trapped". This piece is based on the "Staircase Scene" in "The Double ". Our friends are reacting in different ways ( not all of them heroic ) to whatever fate provides at the bottom of the stairs. The title is a silly pun, stairway spells "trapp" in norwegian.

Plasticine scetch for Trapped

No, this is not the merits of some energetic toddler, but my plasticine scetch for " Trapped ". More in sync with the original drawing, though.

Adventure

"Adventure". Lifted from a 2 page story, ( and mini - musical ), where Alcydia and one of her wolfmen servants are visiting a home in the REAL WORLD. Geir Strøm's home, to be exact. The man in the chair is the writer in person, probably reading some obscure sci - fi novel.

The Baron

" The Baron ". Von Fieffelfalsfaffel against the summer sky of my native Oslo. I used this one for an album cover, my one and only solo long - player from 1996, named " Digital Heart ". The baron have absolutely no connection with the music, but he adds a ( necessary ? ) touch of machismo to the project.

The Baron and the Dragon

" The Baron & The Dragon". The dragon actually features in our universe, but not in this setting. I'm a fan of the St. George Story. The abominable character that popped up at the right place, in the nick of the right time, rescuing the right virgin, but probably killing the wrong dragon. Jesus and Elvis in one frame. A renaissance diehard as well, I snapped the dragon from Paolo Uccello's mid - 1400 painting.

Surrounded

" Surrounded ". Our man are up to serious danger, surrounded by a pack of Mini Alcydia Valkyries. Say no more.

Crime and Punishment

" Crime and Punishment ". The crime goes without saying, Countess Alcydia has a lot to answer for. In other words, she had it coming.
